Body & Soul festival preview, stage times, & ticket giveaway

Avatar

After last year’s festival fell on the hottest weekend of the year, Body & Soul year two has a lot to live up to. In terms of line-up and non-music activities though, it looks to have the edge.

Musically, you’ve got alternative electronica: The Field, Plaid, Nicolas Jaar, Lamb, Joris Voorn, Toby Kaar, Brandt Brauer Frick and Mount Kimbie. Live electronica with Toro Y Moi, Delorean, Daithí, and Darkstar. Folk from Lisa Hannigan and Lisa O’Neill and others. Post-rock styles from Halves, The Jimmy Cake, Holy Fuck and Cloud Castle Lake. There’s reggae legends Lee Scratch Perry and Don Letts and a host of world-facing DJ sets from Donal Dineen, DJ Izem and more.

As for non-musical entertainment, there’s all you’d expect: arts, crafts, forest hot tubs, a masquerade bal, kids garden, art installations and a five-course banquet feast. Nom.

I didn’t get a chance to visit last year but the photos from State and Sara Devine made Ballinlough Castle with its stone-walled gardens and woods look like an ideal place to have a festival. Tickets are €99 with Weekend Tickets: €109, Sunday Day Tickets €55, Campervan Tickets €30. All through Tickets.ie. Travel info.
