Deap Valley

Every Friday, four new music picks from music blogs worldwide are published as part of my Day & Night pages. Follow Day & Night on Twitter or Facebook. The magazine is out today in print with every copy of the Irish Independent so pick it up to see my full internet-heavy section as well as the rest of the mag.

Deap Vally

A blues rocking duo that go hard with raspy riffs and Robert Plant-esque female vocals, this California band are playing one of Rubyworks’ 10th Birthday shows in Whelan’s, Dublin on August 27th.

Flosstradamus

If you like dance music built like bombastic rap tunes with fat brass samples and rattling hi-hats, and audacious synth lines, then the latest dance subgenre Trap might be for you. Chicago duo Flosstradamus have been at the forefront of the bandwagon with their many mixes showcasing the style.

Jewellers

Pinging Royksopp-esque synth sounds and deft percussion lead the way for ATLAS’ Sarah Hezen illuminating vocals on Haze, a Welsh/French collaboration and blogosphere favourite.

The Hall Of Mirrors

Wistful and retro, this London band are seeped in psychedelic ‘70s folk sounds and dripping with Jessica Winter’s silken voice.
