This is an awesome song. The National debuted the first song on Fallon (Jimmy is killing em) from their upcoming record High Violet.

Dedicated to Ciaran as its his birthday tomorrow and he’s a massive fan of the band.

Another high-quality quasi-mystical neon-clad headfuck of a video from Yeasayer for one of the best tracks on their Odd Blood album. Directed by Radical Friend. The band are playing silly-looking fake instruments too.

Zooey is all over this one. Clearly inspired by 500 Days Of Summer’s Bank Dance (or at least informed by Deschanel’s dancing skills on that movie), it was directed by Peyton Reed (who directed Yes Man). This is a whole lot of cute. M. Ward is in the video too of course. She & Him’s Volume Two is out here on April 2nd.

Three part documentary focusing on J Dilla’s time in LA with B+, Egon, Peanut Butter Wolf, J.Rocc and associates of the legendary producer.

Whilst your delving into Have One on Me’s triple album deal, here’s J-New (hat-tip to Adam) on Jimmy Fallon. This one starts the third disc/vinyl/playlist.

“I swear on my tache, it’s decent hash”.

Footage of their Christmas Dublin show after the jump. Richie Kavanagh! That was some show. “ROISIN! I want to fight your father!”.

A look at Jamie in the studio working on his new album Compass. Appearances from Beck, Feist, James Gadson, Nikki Costa, Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear plus a preview of the new tunes. Maybe, Jamie has finally found a way to marry his disparate eclectic styles: “I can rightfully hold a compass and feel like I’m not lost. I’m going where I want to go.”

I wasn’t too fond of the title track (below) but I’ve hopes for this one all the same. More..»

Like the Not Squares video recently, most of the time it’s the simple concepts that work the best for music videos. In this case, bodyslamming in the wall of death. Shot beautifully by Special Problems.

Jonathan Boulet is from Sydney, Australia and is signed to Modular. The tune above reminds me of Grizzly Bear’s ‘Deep Blue Sea’ sung by Kevin Drew. Here’s a great remix of his by The Album Leaf

First single from Villagers‘ upcoming Domino debut album. Don’t forget where you heard him first. Thanks for Guesslist for the link. You’ll recognise this song from the live gigs last year. The video is directed by Ferry Gouw and ‘Becoming a Jackal’ will be released on limited edition 7” with the track ‘Twenty-Seven Strangers’ on Record Store Day (April 17th) with a digital download on April 26th.

This is the probably the best one yet. The tune sounds nice and it’s a bit more revealing. Still no proper BIG reveal though. The title says WELCOME-HOME and she says “Why” at the end. It’s the first day of Spring and the mandrake plant has seemingly sprouted.

Exceptional gig from Jesca Hoop in The Academy 2 last night in Dublin. Sometimes a talented person needs a bigger audience and she is one of those people. You may have seen her on Other Voices during the week. If not, Galway people – she plays tonight and Belfast tomorrow. Her album Hunting My Dress is a favourite of the last few months.
