Highlights this week include Joker, Two Door Cinema Club, Choice Music Prize, Field Music, Crash Ensemble, The Cast of Cheers (again as their first two gigs were awesome) and Ed Devane’s album launch. Also, Delphic (who I caught an impressive live set from in London last week) will play Propaganda on Saturday in the Button Factory.

This week sees a good few Haiti fundraisers take place and a special mention to Sweet Oblivion’s fundraiser in the Twisted Pepper with Bats, Groom, Hunter-Gatherer, a bake sale and myself among the DJs and also the random Karaoke fundraiser in the National Stadium.

On Wednesday night, the first State Social takes place downstairs in the Shebeen Chic. It’s the first of State Magazine’s monthly nights where we’ll have State DJs from 9pm.It’s somewhere for State writers, photographers and readers to go on a Wednesday night for some good music and it’s FREE. I’ll be DJing on the night as will Loreana Rushe.

In the last week, we’ve had announcements of new shows from Ellie Goulding, LCD Soundsystem, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, Tune-yards, Anti-pop Consortium, Jesca Hoop and host of Foggy Notions shows from Owen Pallett and Panda Bear included.

State Midnight Mass tonight

statemidnightmass State.ie is holding a little get together tonight for anyone who’d like to come down and harass our writers and photographers for what we’ve done this year (Let’s keep it festive though yeh?). It’s taking place in the Shebeen Chic on Georges Street from 8;30pm – 1:30pm and it’s FREE.

As it says on the poster, we have DJ sets from the State Massive, Loreana Rushe, Messiah J (sans The Expert), Niamh from Ham Sandwich and Gav from Super Extra Bonus Party.

There’ll also be a Lucky CD dip and prayers of the faithful by Love Music Hate Racism. We’d love to see you there. If you haven’t seen it already here are State’s Top 50 albums of the decade with our albums of 2009 to follow next week. Last year was brilliant and I got to play this Christmas classic…
