Drunk French people
May 25 2007A quick post on last night’s TTC gig in the Village. Organised by the French Cultural Service, Alliance Francaise and Note Productions, it was a poorly attended gig of 70/80 people the overwhelming majority of which were French. Thankfully the attendance didn’t affect the atmosphere such was the general messy party vibe and general banjaxery. Props to the guy in the paisley hat who doused himself in Guinness after the show and was LOVING it. Pity I left the camera at home 
Helped by atmospheric low lighting and sparse flashes of spotlight, it was a proper hip hop gig which took in freestyles, dirty electro, blips, bleeps, Lenny Kravitz and 80’s techno. I’d liken DJ Orgasmic to Diplo on the decks in terms of creating big party vibes. Unfortunately, due to having to go to Kildare to vote, myself and Mike missed the first half of the gig but the 35 minutes we caught were probably the best live hip hop group I’ve seen in the last few years.

2it was a great gig despite the numbers and they said at the start they were having technical difficulties so they couldn’t play all their songs. heres a video i took, the quality isn’t great.

Definitely. I keep asking myself why there were only 80 or so people at this gig?!??! Bonde do Role were fantastic the other week and really sound heads to boot, but TTC for me just tore the place a new arsehole, really fuckin amazing! Why is it that they only get 80 heads yet Bonde do Role was packed and had all manner of press wetting themselves at the (crap) venue? Maybe it was the fact that it was a whopping 24squids in as opposed to 14 for bonde do role, and probs didnt help that the gig was promoted by l’alliance “wtf” francaise!! all the same i just left the venue feeling really sorry for the guys cos their album is excellent and they played a fuckin great set, but the turnout was miserable. TTC deserve better methinks!
7there were 900-1000 people in the place.. You can’t see them on the video because i was at the first row. Don’t worry there were a lot of crazy people into this gig!
