Dec 04 2006This looks like it could be worth a look. From The Basement is a live performance music series filmed at Maida Vale studios in London. The first episode will feature Thom Yorke on piano performing new Radiohead songs “Videotape” and “Down is the new Up”, a Kieran Hebden/Steve Reid live collaboration and the White Stripes.

I’ll definitely be looking to check this out. I read that Nigel Godrich will be the front of house mixer for the series.

2More like session performances than conventional ‘live’, yeah?
All the better without the audience anyway.
I guess you can think of it like a live performance without an audience, a step above a session performance as they are still performing.
Interesting mix of artists… looking forward to seeing who else they have lined up.
3This looks great. Checked out the website and at the top of my browser it mentioned Beck and Jamie Lidell along side the line up for the first show so it can be presumed they’ll be on the next one. Fingers crossed there’ll be a DVD - £9.48 seems a bit steep for just one show.
