New El-P
Nov 29 2006
2 new songs from El-P forthcoming I’ll Sleep when you’re Dead album out in March 2007. The album sounds like it’s a step away from Fantastic Damage (hardly surprising- It was 5 years ago ) with guest appearances including Mars Volta, Trent Reznor, Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Aesop Rock, James McNew (of Yo la Tengo), Tame One, Cage, Mr. Lif and Cat Power. Sounds like it’s going to be very interesting.
Cat Power features on the last song on the album “Poisonville Kids No Wins” which is based on a sample from her own song “Love & Communication” from The Greatest. More on that and the album at Pitchfork.

El-P - Smithereens (Stop Cryin’)
And one of my favourite’s from Fantastic Damage

Eh, it’s pretty good I guess.
1I think he needs to take more time with it now.
He shouldn’t feel so rushed to produce, he’s already legitimized himself with what appears to be a system/style of his, which is good to have, but that’s not very challenging. He should experiment more with his albums. He’s in the perfect position to do it, why not? He doesn’t have to fall into the same bullshit routine that all those other tired producers fall into, yer know.
I’d guess with these special guests on board it’s bound to sound different to fantastic damage or other stuff he produces.
2Can’t wait till it comes, sound to be good, with all these stars…WE’ll see!!!
