My favourite discovery this past week is CSS or Cansei se der Sexy (”Tired of Being Sexy” in Portugese). It’s great electro indie-pop party music from Sao Paolo, Brasil with silly lyrics and baffling song titles like ‘Fuck off is not the only thing you have to show’ or ‘ Music is my hot hot sex’ and plenty of pop culture references scattered throughout. The band is made up of 5 girls and one guy. The singer has a touch of the Karen O to her on stage (I’m smitten). Already a hit in Brasil, they are signed to Sub Pop records elsewhere and have been touring with Diplo as well as been remixed by him and Spank Rock. Their international debut album is out now.

‘Let’s make love and listen to Death from Above’ is the best CSS track I’ve heard so far and the video is brilliant though I can’t explain why I like it so much. I really like the shots of the band on the road all dancing and doing their own thing. ‘CSS Sucks’ sounds like the Go! Team. ‘This month day 10′ is a fun pop song - “I’ll tell you what i’ll do I’ll break your face in two.” Check them out. And have a look at the performance video of ‘Art Bitch’ from Youtube.
