Found Music
Jun 23 2006
Digging through my room back home over the weekend I found various singles, EPs and free CDs which I haven’t listened to in a long time. A few for your listening pleasure..
MCA & Burzootie - Drum Machine.mp3
Prior to the Beastie Boys success with ‘Licenced to Ill’, in 1985 MCA made this simple song with Burzootie. The drum machine beat is predictable and quaint and they’ve clearly been listening to too much Run DMC. Incidentially, Burzootie (real name Jay Burnett) went on to mix ‘The Very Best Of Uplifting House Euphoria’ on Telstar records. Exciting.
Beck - Mixed Bizness (Cornelius Remix)
Taken from the Mixed Business CD single, here’s another remix from Cornelius who thanks to info from dodoron in the comments, has a new single ‘Music’ coming out on the 23rd of August! Check out his website, a virtual panoramic tour of his recording studio - http://www.cornelius-sound.com/
DJ Shadow - Six Days (Remix Featuring Mos Def)
In anticipation of Shadow’s new album and his appearance at Electric Picnic, the Six Days remix featuring Mos Def. Check out the cinematic video of the original on YouTube.
Manics - The Class Reunion Of The Sunset Marquis (David Holmes remix)
A David Holmes remix of the Manic Street Preachers UK number one , “If you tolerate this, then your children will be next”. I used to really like the Manics, now they largely piss me off. They still have some great songs - La Tristessa Durera, A Design for Life, Faster, Motorcycle Emptiness and others, but their latest stuff is weak. Singer James Dean Bradfield and Bass player Nicky Wire will be releasing Solo albums soon. As for David Holmes he’s scoring the unnecessary Ocean’s 13.
Mercury Rev - Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp (Chemical Brothers remix)
Any Chemical Brothers remix is worth listening to. It helps if the band in question is Mercury Rev.

Love that Mercury Rev remix. I found it via the soundtrack to “Spaced” (awesome show). I can never seem to convince others of it’s genius, so it’s nice to find someone else who digs it like me. I was actually considering it for my own blog, but I’ll leave it for now
1Mercury Rev Remix is just awesome - thanks for brightening up my otherwise boring monday (post weekend of nights!)
2Thanks, it’s great to get a chance to hear some good remixes.
