Best Kids TV Show ever!

Washington DC’s Pancake Mountain is a kids TV show with a difference. It features energetic LITTLE kids dancing not to day-glo smiley pop acts but bands such as the Arcade Fire, The Go! Team, Metric, The Subways, Anti Flag, The Fiery Furnaces, Shonen Knife and George Clinton. It’s quite bizarre but great fun to watch.
Creator Scott Stuckey says the show appeals to younger minds through witty word play and great music. “Since I’ve started the show, I’ve gotten a ton of CDs and e-mails from bands that do ‘children’s music,’ which is great, but it kind of misses the point, Really good art, whether it is music, film, or what-have-you, transcends age, race, and gender.” Click to watch videos of the performances. Niall - off topic I know, but did you make it to Vitalic in the TBMC?
1No i didn’t! why do you ask? i’d say it was good but i’m not too enamoured with Vitalic. I just haven’t really listened to the album yet. Although I heard an interesting drum track on my mp3 player from them last week.. must investigate. There are so many good gigs on this month i’ve got to pick and choose so I can afford to live as well. Fiery Furnaces, Architecture in Helsinki, DJ / Rupture , Rednecks, Broken Social Scene - I’m complaining though!!
2My mistake! I had it in my head that you were fan. It was actually amazing, even if he did only play for just over an hour.
Arveene played a great set before too.
Myself and Mr. Shannon are going to Broken Social Scene. On the fence about how I feel about the Fiery Furnaces.
Next week I’m going to check out the Mexican Pets reunion gig and the launch of Si Schroeder’s album (what I’ve heard sounds amazing).
3Si Schreoder sounds interesting. I’m the same as you about the Fiery Furnaces - they can be very annoying to listen to at times, but I”ve heard some really good things about their live show. Can’t wait for BSS again!
