I thought this O. Children video was a joke or at the very least, an unfunny outtake from The Mighty Boosh. Then, the song’s insistent melody wouldn’t leave my brain so I pressed replay. ‘Dead Disco Dancer’ is an obvious bastardisation of Joy Division, Nick Cave and Bauhaus. Despite all this, the song is growing on me. It looks like we have The Horrors to thank for re-opening the floodgates to the Brit-goth/new wave past.
