I’ve been playing Maximo Park’s “Our Velocity” from new album Our Earthly Pleasures on repeat since yesterday. Can’t get enough of those tight …wait for it.. angular rhythms, the arpegiatted synth line and Paul’s Smith’s catchy as fuck chorus. I’m always amused when a song I hear once completely underwhelms me and then I can’t stop playing it.
As a bonus, here’s a electro remix of the tune from Blamma! Blamma!, which takes Smith’s exaggerated vocal style to it’s logical sampled conclusion. Put simply, he sounds like a madman. The band are playing a free gig in the Music Centre on the 21st of May with the Noisettes. Register here.

good call niall, it’s a strong contender for ‘single of the year’ thus far!
hope i get tickets for their TBMC gig, would be a sickener to miss out :(
noisettes on support too should be worth checking out, heard one of their tracks last night with a hook very VERY similar to ‘milkman’ from deerhoof!
