I haven’t bought tix to this yet so here goes, am stoked to see alla the bands but….65DoS!! The entire Fall of Math album is like a musical gland. Love it. Retreat! Retreat! I think is my fave. And Hole. They just do that music-thing so well.

    Horse – Adebisi Shank

If you play it backwards on the solstice, your lower half turns into a horse. Pretty fun once the agony of transformation is over.

    Battles – B + T

The reason: Because that riff is just so bloomin’ catchy and really demonstrates how well the two boys can make it sound like there is 236897236 guitarists on stage, plus those heavy bits when John smashes the drums just round it off, serious tune.

    Colinskehan – Adebisi Shank

If you play it backwards on the solstice, your lower half turns into a Colin Skehan. ;)

Battles – Race In. Get into car. Key in ignition. Start car. Switch mode from radio to CD. Roll down driveway. Get to the traffic lights just as………

DUM didigada BAH dididiga DUM DUM diga BAH didigida DU DUM DUUM BAH…

Cue baffled pedestrians crossing at the red light at the headbanging inside car… :D

The Ex have an album with Ethiopian jazzer Getatchew Mekuria, the whole album is amazing but track 5, Aynamaye Nesh is just perfect.
It’s the sunny sound of my favorite time of the week, Sunday morning.

Oooh, maybe the above Atlas from Battles, but no, I’ll go for Agassi Shank from one of our finest bands of the moment: Adebesi Shank.

You Me – Adebisi Shank, the first time I saw them do it live I realised gameboys weren’t just for the long drives to France.

    Battles – Ddiamondd

I love the craziness of this song. Perfect for when you come in from a day of college and you want to forget everything you’ve heard in that day and be transported to a land far far away

Damn- just ONE tune? How about one album?!
Know that people are tired of Battles-Mirrored at this stage but so many cracking tracks- Race In/Race Out, Atlas, Tij but above all Tonto. Not only a rocking track hightlighting all of the bands skills but the video for it was just stunning and the use of lighting by United Visual Artists was phenomenal…one of the reasons I haven’t managed to change the banner pic in 2 years!

Caddyshank is my favourite Abedisi Shank song, as it’s the only song to which I can dance around to insanely in my room alone like a Cap’n Jazz era Tim Kinsella (for reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSfPofx2wfQ).

65daysofstatic from the end of their live album, radio protector straight into four score (and some drum n’bass) straight into a failsafe, mazing, always gets me going

Its gotta be Tonto, as it might be my favourite song full stop. When the drums kick in and just tie it all together- shivering spines stuff. The first time I heard it i hadnt heard Battles before, or anything remotely like them, Ihadnt a clue what was going on, with the vocals n stuff. I thaught they were some sort of madzer electronic orchestra

“I Swallowed Hard, Like I Understood” by 65daysofstatic.

Immense track. Please listen to it?

When I saw the drummer ditch his kit and pelvic thrust the wall behind him while the other two lads took up their drum machines – breaking into heavy electro beats, I splooged a little bit. (@Button Factory, 2 years ago)

    Good tahmz!

‘Drove Through Ghosts’ by 65daysofstatic is one of the few songs that brings me back to the night by daughter was, shall we say, ‘conceived’.
Little Esmé is now six weeks old and I haven’t had a night out in a
while, for obvious reasons. You have the power to give me rock solid grounds for a well-earned leave of absence for a few hours.
