Tune into Phantom tomorrow morning from 10am to 12 noon to catch Edel Coffey’s last show for Phantom FM. Consistently the only morning, day-time radio show I’d tune into, Access All Areas was the best thing going on the radio at that time. It seems Edel is going back to work for in the newspaper business. Best of luck to Edel and her successor.

Damn-thats a shame. Only able to listen to the podcasts of her show but great stuff!
Any idea what paper’s she going to?
Damn, she’ll be very much missed by me too.
That station is muck. All of it. Sorry, had to be said.
Pity! She was one of the few DJs that kind of half supported Irish unsigned music and interviewed completely unknown bands. She also played Battles a fair bit! Will be interesting to see who will take her slot..
Ah it’s a real shame, I love the show.
Adam, she’s going to write for the Indo.
And her newspaper column in the Indo Friday ents section is woeful too. Sorry, but I’ll never forgive for the time she slated the entire spectrum of electronic music as shite/drugs music/faceless/etc. Typical indie snobbishness and a complete over simplification of a genre (this would be akin to someone saying on residentadvisor that all guitar music is crap because of hearing someone like Bryan Adams). Sorry Edel but I cant take anything you say seriously after that particular article.
x said phantom plays some excellent music including some excellent electronic music.#
granted some of the presenters may be a bit dodgy but they do play som good music which you wont hear on any other daytime radio station.
as a person who is into both indie and electronic music i would fin the people who are in the electronic scene have thier heads up thir own hole
hey niall,
i made my comments on Easy Music… so i’m not going to repeat them here
anyway, you can blame sinead gleeson and ian thrill pier for the following (or me, it doesn’t matter)
;)
I am tagging you with something called a meme. If you don’t participate, then you smell and you will have many years of bad luck despite having no glass mirrors.
