Hey dude,

Just my 2nd post on your blog but I promise I'll keep it much shorter than the first ha ha! I think this is the most diverse poll I've seen of these type of end-of-year round-ups - something which I'd like to commend you upon!

As I said was quite happy to see SEBP win, as I thought the album very progressive & a deserving winner, would definitely prefer it over Cathy Davey's offering. Great to see Dry County high up there too, as indeed Kill City Defectors, with Delorentoast. Liked Ro's album too as it reminded me somewhat of Mark Kozelek & I'm a rather MASSIVE Sun Kil Moon / Red House Painters & Modest Mouse fan (so shoot me). Would like to have seen Adrian Crowley a bit higher placed but it's good he's on even the list at all - I definitely would have had Juno Falls "Weightless" up there too, as indeed Tom McShane whom I forgot to include - as too Mr Geraghty!

Merry Crimbo & a Happy New Year to ya' sir - looking forward to adding more posts to this blog in '08!

re: Karl, mixer, mixing.

I think that comes from the review in the Irish Times, where it also says it was recorded on an eight track mixer. It was recorded Using one certainly, but don't for one second assume that I support the recording of albums ONTO mixers. Only heartbreak can follow.

Just want that nipped in the bud.

I'm suprised and heartened at my placing. I'm going for at least number 6 with the new one.

Niall:

This blog was a great find for me. Little by little I am getting acquainted with the best of Irish music and must thank you so much for all your hard work. There is a lot for me to come back for and listen to and learn about.

Thanks for all you do.

RE: So Cow

You can't record things on a mixer! Mixers mix! Good to see him in the top 10 though.

And it's not a surprise or a fix that SEBP are going to be number 1 in a poll on a blog that plugs them a lot.

damien dempsey got done - recount! he got six votes - why isn't he in?
also - are thingamajigsaw Irish?

not that it matters i suppose.

i think i pretty much agree with that poll.
61 albums is a lot. a good year.

I'd say cathy davey / adrian crowley for the choice.
Is there a poll for best album that hasnt been voted for by the friends and family (and indeed members) of super extra bonus party… LOL
Ya, this is it. No band members could vote for themselves. About five or so votes were discounted on this basis.
