Vote Irish albums EPS

The second annual nialler9 Irish album poll is back after last year’s success! 2006 saw Si Schroeder voted the best album by you guys and this year I’m extending the poll to include Irish EPs as there were many quality EP releases this year that deserve some love too.

Here are the simple rules to vote:

  1. You can pick up to 5 Irish albums and EPs released in 2007.
  2. At least one Irish album is required but you can leave the EPs blank if you haven’t heard any this year.
  3. Please include title of the EP as some artists have had more than one.
  4. 3 ways to vote

Leave your votes in the comments in public for all to see.
Use the vote page.
Send an email to vote@nialler9.com with your choices

So what’s it gonna be? Album-wise, 2007 saw releases from Dry County, Mumblin’ Deaf Ro, Cathy Davey, Super Extra Bonus Party, Adrian Crowley, Sarsparilla, So Cow, Delorentos, The Flaws, Thinguma*jigsaw, Nina Hynes, Kill City Defectors, Hybrasil, Hooray For Humans, Zoid and Large Mound to name but a few.

It was a good year for EPs with Channel One, Halves, Dark Room Notes, Terrordactyl, Adebisi Shank, LPX, Fight like Apes and The Things all releasing in the last twelve months. Of course, there are plenty of others which you can help fill in the gaps with.

Update: I’ll close the vote on Tuesday at noon.

I’ll go for Donnacha Costello’s Colorseries album released last month.

Most of the material on it has a history out there already but there’s a couple of new tracks and the others have been re-edited for album format.

In the context of the non-mainstream-ness of the ‘07 Irish albums you mention in the post I wouldn’t be surprised if Colorseries is one of the most popular internationally.

To cut a long story short my vote for best album goes to Adrian Crowley & best ep to Jape.

Having said that I’d be more than happy to see SEBP win.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjReKsO0Dc8 that is a great video :)

Hows about Best Irish Music Video of 2007??

Me head hurts now, as I’m sure I’ve missed some. Not sure if Duke Special has released any eps this year. Forgot about David Geraghty too DAMNIT.

Hmm, sorry it’s taken me so long, I’m still not sure what I’d vote for. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t shake the feeling that 2006 was a much better year for Irish albums. I liked a lot of stuff this year, but there were very few I loved (*ducks for cover*)

    Albums
1: Adrian Crowley – Long Distance Swimmer
2: Cathy Davey – Tales of Silver Sleeve
3: Mumblin’ Deaf Ro – The Herring and the Brine
4: So Cow – These Truly Are End Times
    5: Roisin Murphy – Overpowered

    EP – Fight Like Apes

My favourite Irish album of 2007 has got to be “Long Distance Swimmer” by Adrian Crowley.
