Then don’t miss support act Yacht. His live shows look excellent in a slightly madhatter Dan Deacon kind of way. I think I’ll be giving it a miss myself as the four-in-a-row over the weekend means I need a rest. Plus, I know nothing of Deerhunter to be honest although the dream I had involving them made me feel like I SHOULD be going. I’d only be going to see this song though and that’s not cool or economically viable. Animal Collective gig ponderings on the way.

Deerhunter are possibly the most incredible band going in the world.
in my opinion anyways.
Don’t say that! I’ll want to go!
i could well be exaggerating, but im quite a loola for them! Their music is very droney sweepy sleepy soaring roaring bang. I imagine they’ll tear whelans apart. fuck yacht! (ooh that sounds bad, im sure he’ll be good :P)
Well, let us know how both acts are will ya? ;)
i will of course! Taking photos at it so will have em up tomorrow. Animal Collective are up in my journal if you want to check em out :)
That was amazing, both Yacht and Deerhunter put on a great show. My first time in the ‘new’ whelans, the sound was LOUD, almost painfully so; but amazing nonetheless…
Deerhunter completly redeemed my week after the disappoint of Animal Collective, surpassing any expectations I’d built up from becoming obsessed with Crytograms a few months back.
Also Yacht would have to have been the most energetic one man show I’ve ever seen!
Cool, sounds good but nothing was going to move me tonight. Cheers for the update flynn!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Deerhunter moved the earth last night. What a show. My ears are still ringing. Noisy noisy noisy!
Ah boo, I regret not going now…
Still though, €17.50 was a bit steep for Deerhunter.
Last night in Whelan’s was class! Started out wondering if there was going to be a decent crowd…needn’t have worried as Yacht took over every gap of floorspace available in one of the most energetic performances I’ve seen. Loved the Q&A although I wondered who was the mean boy who asked if he’d eaten Cat in China…the dude’s Cat was only dead like!
Deerhunter completely melted my mind – definitely time to start wearing earplugs though! All in all one of the best gigs I’ve been to in an age was a very happy girl running for the last bus home… even the ringing in my ears didn’t bother me too much :D
