That's kind of a relief to hear Baz.

I've made the decision to go to Prefuse 73, Hexstatic and the Field instead.

I've no doubt Jim, that on homesoil, the gig would be rocking!

"Ultimately though, what separates this from a great BSS album is the tendency for songs to wander for 5 or 6 minutes when 4 or 4 and a half would do, leading to a lack of focus in comparison."

this pretty much sums up the live experience too! whilst the heidelberg gig was enjoyable, i wouldn't call it a great by any means
quite a loose set up, the songs meandering into extended jams, it was every so slightly spinal tap-esque at times! (or raconteuers-esque!)
played for well over two hours too! all the well known tracks from 'spirit if' were rolled out and in fairness they sounded good live

dude from american analog set came on half way through the set to play AAS's best known track, cue some funny banter between him and a slightly obsessed AAS fan!

KD is so relaxed though, has a great rapport with the crowd and the entire band looked to be thoroughly enjoying themselves (and to be honest so did most of the crowd), so I can't fault them too much, but I'll be glad to see Kevin back with BSS or at least working with a producer who'll keep him focussed if he remains solo!

This is a damn fine album. I haven't listened to it as much as I should by now, but it's sweet stuff.

I wouldn't be so critical of tbtf me oul mucker.granted it's not a million miles away from the bss mould but there's subtleties in there that make it stand out-the string and horn parts add to it wonderfully and the da-da vocals are a nice touch.i've been listening to this enough to be convinced that it's worth missing prefuse for.
am i out of the band?
