[...] Props to nialler9 for sending Blak Thor my way. He played their track ‘Rascal’ in his June podcast which quickly prompted me to find out more about them. There isn’t much in the way of hard facts to be found about the five piece hailing from Georgia, USA. The have recorded 4 EPs to date, two of which (That’s The Thing About Blak Thor & That Is SO Blak Thor) are available on both iTunes and eMusic. ‘Rascal’ can be found on Thats The Thing About Blak Thor and is a hypnotic electronic number with the same sort of quirky factor that Fujiya and Miyagi brought us with Transparent Things. Both EPs have been getting a lot of play on my ipod with their incredible mix distinct tracks. [...]

[...] Also on this show we heard Indestructible Sam from Buck 65 from his EP Dirty Work, which is available as a free download on his website. We heard I Am Brazil from The Redneck Manifesto’s 2004 album of the same name. Nialler9 recommended the Optimo Espachio Remix of Pharaohe Monch’s Body Baby from his forthcoming album Desire. The original version of Body Baby was featured on the June Nialler9 podcast - which has lots of other great tracks hand picked by The King of the Bloggers himself. We also heard Agency of Bastards from Party Weirdo, who had their 7 inch single release party on the night of this show in The Lower Deck. Very much looking forward to having the Party Weirdo ladies on the show later on in the summer. [...]

the lower deck on saturday night was my first experience of thinguma*jigsaw-they played right beside the bar, unamplified and opened with a cover of 'walking the cow' by daniel johnston.they could've been playing anything and the amount of feeling and immersion in their sound would have been exactly the same.it was the first time i've been at a gig in dublin where people shut the fuck up for the entire duration of a set.something very special indeed.
looking forward to downlanding this sucker when i get in.
