This is my story: Quite frankly i love everything about Daft Punk, so when i read this, i went like 'wow. so.... ok, you have a problem with the duo. is it their problem that you don't like them anymore? ' seriously, how misunderstood are ya?---- DAFT PUNK ROCKS!!!! they are awsome next to Justice, Deadmau5, and even Gorillaz!! I laugh when i hear people complain about them.I think wow, they have no clue. Daft Punk is one of the greatest musicians in history....no...they are the best of all time. They tought me originality, to try something new, and how to hide my face if i am just too damn shy....... they were like my senseis. I like all the Daft Punk fans who said their opinions here. i agreen with them. Also.. i couldnt help to realize that there is a little smiley face at the very bottom left on this page... haha.Oh... and Sarah Jones, I have a pretty wild imagination too but my expirences on daft punk are way less twisted than yours...

Opinions about Daft Punk aside, it most likely wasn't their idea to release a singles album. It was probably in their contract with the record company, and the record company is allowed to release whatever they want whenever they want in most clauses. So they may have not been being egotistical jerks, but may not have had any say in the matter.

Could be different, but also could be true.

How can you HATE Daft Punk?!?! Daft Punk is a part of Electronic History!!!
Homework was THE BEST!!! Da Funk, Around The World, Daftendirekt, Revolution 909, Rollin' and Scratchin', etc... That is AWESOME... Discovery was awesome!!! One More Time especially!!! How could anyone hate Discovery... Without Discovery... Kanye West would be a loozer XD... And plus, It has a nice Electro-Pop feel to it... It is fun... & Human After All has some of their nice, loud, BAM, BAM, BAM songs... Robot Rock, The Prime Time of your Life, Television Rules the Nation, Human After All... Very loud, and amazing... And some of the VERY repetitive stuff like Technologic ^^ Plus their emotional stuff, Make Love & Emotion....
^^
DAFT PUNK IS THE BEST, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!!\

Daft punk were tastemakers in 96. I have been following electronic music for most of my life, and hands down the most amazing thing I have ever experienced is Thomas (on keys and drum machine), Falcon Djing, and Cassius (live set) all playing simultaneously for four hours. I have seen thousands of acts and nothing ever compared to that.
Although that was in the late 90s, I have a feeling that they will one day have midnight crises in the plush opulence of their tour buses, realize they got too comfy, toss the vocoder out the window and produce something not formulated to be later stripped down in ableton. I hope.
Or perhaps no one buys vinyl, and music is meant to be mas produced generic blandness formed to fit mp3 format, and they will even further concentrate on their lightshow.
PS before last summer's tour I have never seen anyone dj a lightshow before. Perhaps that is their last evolutionary step?

daft punk are true pioneers of todays electro scene if it was not for people like daft punk and felix da housecat there would be no justice, ed banger scene. for some one to say daft punk are shit they must truly not have a clue.
as the new alive 2007 album shows it proves how good they are tune wise and as technical producers and djs

anyone who was there or has seen the vids of thomas bangalter djing at the edbanger/institubes xmas party from paris last week will realise how much of a legend the guy is. the crowd worshiped him

every piece of music hes touched has been fucking amazing.

i didnt really like the discovery album (thought it was too POP )untill i seen them live this year, then i realised what its all about. one more time/aerodynamic mix says it all.

im sure they could of kept making records like the ones from homework but daft punk are about doing things different , there albums have been different to anything else out there at the time.

cant wait for a new album from them.

I share many people’s opinions on this blog but I can relate with what Boots had to say. If you look at daft punk's albums as a whole and not pick them apart track by track I find their music is all relative to one main idea. It's important to have a different idea on the future albums than on the previous. If I was to just pick out certain tracks from the first two albums I'd compare "Around the World" and "One More Time" as the most over played tracks and after hearing them so much you get sick of them... NEWS FLASH people that's what happens when the media (MTV) tells you what's popular and coincidentally the artists gain world recognition again and again. I bet if you were to ask Thomas or Guy-Man what their least favorite track they've released is, what do you think one would say "One More Time" or "Around the World"? One of my favorite tracks Daft Punk has ever made from a producer's point of view is H,B,F,S just because of the thought process involved and how everything was pieced together like a puzzle. There's not a single track on Homework that shares the ideas displayed on Discovery. I read that daft punk didn't make this album to say look what we've come up with (discovery)... they were thinking DISCO as in disco-very, very disco indeed.

Human after all came to an enormous surprise to me based on what I've heard from them in the past. But once I compared it to some other albums that was released recently at the time it fit in with how the industry was changing. Listen to Felix da Housecat's release of "Devin Dazzle..." the trend seems to be more electro pop on this album too. I see the change in all electronic music as a little discomforting period. But come on really, if Daft Punk was to release a brand new studio album tomorrow I bet everyone who posted a pro or con will be at the local record shop to snatch it up just see what they've concocted (me included.) In a previous post "Boots" made reference to Radiohead's music making history. Yes, they are probably the world's most influential band, even the Red Hot Chili Pepper's played their cover's... i.e. "Lucky" from the 1997 album OK Computer. Daft Punk is just as influential and will always make hit's because the fact is what they've accomplished and what there is TO BE accomplished.

what college did you go to? i feel that i’ve spent quite a lot of time on various collge campuses over the past 6 years doin nothing but going to parties and I have to say that if you heard too much Daft Punk, you are fucking lucky. Most people either dont know who they are or fucking hate them. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that everywhere you went you heard ‘One more time’ playing. I also can’t beleive that, if and when you did hear it, you actually let it bother you instead of dancing and subsequently hooking up with someone because the song is so good. I’m with the three posts before me, if you find yourself stuck in 1996, im truly sorry you couldn’t evolve with the bands you like. If you can’t see what Daft Punk accomplished in “Discovery” then you have obviously missed out on everything that has happened since its release. Go listen to Pablo Honey and talk about how bad Radiohead’s “new” stuff is :P yea right.

and daft punk are the best electronic music act..... but thats just my opinion.

they created a whole new genre and brought dance music into the public spotlight.

Without a doubt, Homework not "grabbing" you has way more to do with you being meaningless and/or spent creatively than it being a bad album. Listen again and desperatly try and get back whats left of your life cause its obviously fading fast, seriously.

holy shit it amazes me how well spoken, seemingly inteligent music buffs like yourselves can be so incredibly blind. Daft Punk are as good or better than ever and will (i promise) make you feel like complete fools for your statements thus far. Unless you are joking, music truly has left you in the dust. And surely you know, when this happens, you can never catch back up :P
