I had no real love for Antony Hegarty’s music before this despairing and haunting song came and changed that. This song is from the new LP The Crying Light out on January 20th.

its almost hard to listen to anthony and the johnsons because his lyrics and voice are so revealing and emotionally full, you have to be in the right mood for it. bjorks collaboration with him was great though- it was interesting to hear her voice mix with his.

It’s a great song, but they’ve got better ones; Hope There’s Someone, You Are My Sister, Fistful of Love etc

I think the first 2 albums are amazing. Check out the song, “My Lady Story” off of I Am A Bird Now. I made an old soul mix for a friend and threw that one in between a Nina Simone and James Carr song, and it blended right it…sounds so authentic, it’s cool to hear someone still making music like that. most his stuff is different than that though…way more theatrical. I love this band. Thanks for the post, can’t wait to hear the new album.
